LAS VEGAS, Nev. (WOWT) – It has been a NBA Summer League to remember for Ryan Kalkbrenner and Jamiya Neal.
The former Creighton teammates joined forces again for the Charlotte Hornets in Las Vegas. Kalkbrenner was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft by the franchise, while Neal signed on as an undrafted free agent.
The former Creighton center was selected 34th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft.
The Hornets went a perfect 5-0 in Summer League leading into Sunday’s championship game against the Sacramento Kings, who also entered with an unbeaten record.
Charlotte won the Summer League championship 83-78. It is their first title here in franchise history.
Kalkbrenner finished as the Hornets’ second-leading scorer with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting to go with nine rebounds, one steal and one block. Neal did not play.
