So you’re saying there’s a chance?

Of course there is!

The Blazers have a 3.7% chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick in next week’s NBA draft lottery. Their chances of jumping into the top four are even better: 16.9%

Are those particularly good odds? They most definitely are not. The most likely outcome is that the Blazers will stay put at No. 10. But that’s what makes Monday’s lottery so intriguing.

Fortunately, we don’t have to wait until then to get a glimpse of what could — will? — happen with those pinging and ponging balls in Chicago.

On this week’s episode of the Oregonian Sports Podcast, hosts Bill Oram and Brenna Greene use the invaluable tankathon.com to see just how many simulations it takes to get the Blazers the No. 1 pick.

Of course, on Monday, there will only be one shot at it.
