Another bang for the Olympia market, this time directly from the world NBAThe red and whites are doing things in style with the signing of the Slovenian. Vlatko Cancar (in the photo), winger born in 1997, who in the last 6 seasons has played overseas with the jersey of Denver Nuggets and a two-year contract who brings to Milan a wing with both inside and outside dimensions who, together with LeDay and Shields, could form a truly eclectic trio, essentially relieving both of them.

Cancar himself played a couple of seasons with Mega Belgrade, where the young talent Suigo had just arrived, when he was drafted by the Nuggets in 2017, before playing in Spain (in Burgos) and then arriving in the NBA in 2019. He played 158 games, including the title win in 2023, in his best season with 60 games played and 5.0 points per game (a career-high 19 points) in 14.8 minutes. Last year, however, was his most difficult, with only 13 games played and a good four months missed due to a knee injury.

Now he is looking for redemption: “I want to thank Olimpia for giving me the opportunity to join a team so rich in history – said Cancar –, I will try to be worthy of representing this club and the city of Milan”. His adventure will not begin immediately, first there will be theEuropean at the end of August to play with his Slovenia where you will also find Josh Nebo.

Meanwhile, the rest of the transfer market is also moving quietly, with the possibility of an agreement with Bryant Dunston, a 1986-born center leaving Zalgiris. Dunston would serve more as a “locker room man” than receive actual minutes on the court, except in emergencies. The Slavic market seems to be the focus for the assistant coaching role, with the latest contacts suggesting a deal with Emilio Kovacic, who was previously seen in Italy as a center at Fortitudo Bologna over twenty years ago and was recently assistant coach at Bayern Munich under the new Milanese sporting director, Baiesi. Finally, physical trainer Giustino Danesi has found a new home, joining Bergamo’s Serie A12 team after 2 years at Olimpia.
