The summer league is over for the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers played eight games in total–three in Salt Lake City and five in Vegas–and their attention now turns to making sure they lock up Quentin Grimes as well as preparing for the 2025-26 season.

This next edition focuses on Judah Mintz who is looking to eventually earn a spot in the NBA after going undrafted out of Syracuse. He averaged 16.0 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.8 rebounds with the Sixers while playing in both Salt Lake City and Vegas in an effort to showcase his abilities.

For Mintz, his takeaways are as followed:

Ability to get to the free-throw line

Mintz averaged 7.9 free-throw attempts across eight games in the summer league which shows he has the ability to attack the paint and make things happen. Even if he isn’t finding a groove with his field goal shooting, he can keep the scoreboard moving and contribute by getting to the foul line and drawing attention from defenses. He was a go-to guy for the summer Sixers which struggled at times finding a rhythm offensively throughout the summer.

Ball-handling

As mentioned above, the summer Sixers had issues getting into their offensive sets at times due to the lack of a true ball-handler. Therefore, they had to turn to Mintz at times to handle that responsibility and he did a good job of doing so. He didn’t turn the ball over much and he was able to help the Sixers find some type of rhythm on that end of the floor. His ability to break down defenses was a big help for Philadelphia towards the end of the summer league.

Audition for the NBA

Mintz might have an NBA future, but it won’t be in Philadelphia. The Sixers have a ton of guards already on the roster led by Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, VJ Edgecombe, and –likely–Grimes. Throw in Kyle Lowry and Eric Gordon returning on veteran deals and the Sixers just don’t have room for Mintz. One has to believe he caught the attention of a lot of teams for his performance in the summer, but will probably add to his case in the 2025-26 G League season. He will likely be with Philadelphia’s affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.
