Chris Paul has had an extremely successful career in the NBA and is set to join forces with his former team, the LA Clippers, in what could be his final year in the league.

While many including Kendrick Perkins have not rated the move highly, Chris Paul joining the Clippers has brought a lot of ‘hope’ to the fans.

He was one of the best point guards in the league during his previous spell with the team. Even after leaving the LA Clippers, Paul achieved notable success.

The 40-year-old went to the NBA Finals when he was with the Phoenix Suns. Despite all of that, CP3 was not a name on Perkins’ top 10 point guard list.

Russell Westbrook has one of the most decorated resumes in the NBA, with an MVP award also to his name.

He also has the unique achievement of having averaged a triple-double in four seasons during his career.

Both Westbrook and Paul have had brilliant careers, but the former has an MVP and that is what tips him over CP3 for Perkins.

He said: “CP3 is a top 15 greatest point guard of all time, I do not have him in my Top 10. I don’t have CP3 above Russell Westbrook.”

Perkins then proceeded to give his reason behind Paul’s exclusion from his Top 10 list.

“CP3 do a lot of things, change the franchise, win a lot of things and games, absolutely. I would never take that away from him.

“Since he was drafted with the New Orleans Pelicans, he changed that franchise. They were a winning organization, he goes to the Clippers- winning organization, goes to the Phoenix Suns – winning organization.

“But when it comes down to rankings you gotta check those boxes and you got to have those accolades and when I say accolades, yes championships or Finals MVP obviously, but CP3 don’t have one MVP,” he added.

Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook are both legends

Paul and Westbrook have both had fantastic careers in the NBA.

While Paul has been the high IQ player that leads the team like a proper quarterback, Westbrook brings energy and gives 100% every game to uplift his side.

A championship is certainly missing from both their resumes, but even without that, there is no doubt they will forever be remembered for the impact they created.

Both will be on new teams next year, with Paul already having secured the move to the Clippers and Westbrook set to join a franchise soon.

CP3 and Westbrook are approaching the end of their careers and while comparisons will naturally follow, it is difficult to separate them because of how brilliant they are.
