The Florida State Seminoles have landed a commitment from four-star center Marcis Ponder. The Miami, Florida, native announced the news Tuesday on social media.
Ponder is a massive get for Luke Loucks and the basketball program. He was one of their top targets in the 2026 cycle and picked them over several other Power Four programs, including the Miami Hurricanes and Texas Longhorns.
He is ranked as the No. 71 overall player and No. 6 center in the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-11 center is also the No. 4 player from Virginia, where he attends Gillion Basketball Academy.
He is their second commit in the 2026 cycle, but the first who is purely a basketball player. Jasen Lopez, who will play point guard for Loucks and wide receiver for Mike Norvell, completes the class. Their two early commitments give them the No. 2 class in the country, behind only Notre Dame.
