Former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is not the All-NBA player he once was, but he can still be a helpful player. Back injuries have robbed him of his athletic ability and he is not the same player he was while helping the Sixers morph into contenders.

Simmons started the 2024-25 season with the Brooklyn Nets before being bought out and then signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists across 51 games for Brooklyn and LA and is now looking for his next NBA home.

Per Ian Begley of SNY, the New York Knicks have checked in on the 3-time All-Star:

Ben Simmons is certainly a candidate for the Knicks’ final roster spot. As of earlier this week, New York continued to show strong interest in signing Simmons as teams in on Simmons await his decision.

A team widely considered to be the favorites in the East in the 2025-26 season, the Knicks could use a player like Simmons who doesn’t demand the ball and will be a helpful player on the defensive end. If New York gets the player who can make plays with his passing and then step up and produce defensively as he once did with the Sixers, it would be a big get for them.
