An NBA trade sending LeBron James, Bronny James and Dalton Knecht from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Miami Heat has been created.
NBA writer Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Lakers and Heat:
Miami Heat receive: LeBron James, Bronny James and Dalton Knecht
Los Angeles Lakers receive: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., a 2029 first-round pick and a 2030 first-round pick swap (top-three protected)
LeBron has to request a trade from the Lakers to the Heat for this NBA trade idea to work since the future Hall of Famer has a no-trade clause in his contract.
The leading scorer in NBA history, LeBron played for the Heat from 2010-11 to 2013-14. He won two MVPs, two championships and two Finals MVPs.
Miami was swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Adding LeBron would give the Heat a talented core of LeBron, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Norman Powell and Kel’el Ware.
LeBron turns 41 in December. He’s the oldest active player in the NBA. However, the Akron native is still an elite offensive weapon. He made the All-NBA Second Team and finished sixth in MVP voting last season. LeBron averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists for the Lakers in 70 games.
The Eastern Conference is wide open next season since Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum are not expected to play due to Achilles tears. Miami would be a championship contender with LeBron, Adebayo, Herro, Powell and Ware leading the way.
The 40-year-old LeBron will make $52.6 million next season in the final year of his contract. It’s unknown if the basketball icon will retire after next season or play in 2026-27.
It will be fascinating to see if LeBron requests a trade from the Lakers, who are building around Luka Dončić now.
