Former Brooklyn Nets forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson recently posted on X that he was looking for a spot on an NBA team once training camp comes around in the fall. Brooklyn may not be one of the teams that could be looking for additional training camp spots given how many players are already on the roster, but Hollis-Jefferson took the time to explain his post in the first place.
“It’s been a long journey. I feel like, given the time I was in the NBA, I think it was very important for me to self-reflect and think about all the things that I could have done differently that kind of shaped me into the person I am today,” Hollis-Jefferson said during an interview with HoopsHype’s Cyro De Asseo. In Hollis-Jefferson’s post, he explained why he believes he should get a chance to show he still belongs in the league by going to training camp.

“I was just sitting there the other day thinking about it. I was thinking about it all, man,” Hollis-Jefferson continued. “Just where I’m at, how far I’ve come, the growth, the experiences, everything that I’ve been through. I thought I was just sitting there. It was one of those days where your wheels are turning. And I said, man, I should be in the NBA, dude.”
Hollis-Jefferson, 30, last played in the NBA during the 2020-21 season as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, but since then, he has had to continue his professional basketball career outside of the NBA. Since then, Hollis-Jefferson has played overseas, but his performance in the 2023 FIBA World Cup could have been proof that he was able to still be a contributor in the NBA.
While playing for Jordan, Hollis-Jefferson averaged 23.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 46.8% from the field and 21.4% from three-point land. Whether Hollis-Jefferson gets another chance in the NBA is left to be seen, but after what he has shown in international competition and during his time overseas, he may be able to convince at least one team to give him the chance to show what he has.
