The biggest news in the NFL on Friday is that Dallas Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons has formally requested to be traded out of Dallas. Parsons has spent his entire NFL career with the Cowboys up to this point. He was drafted by the team in the opening round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Parsons publicly made his intentions clear with a post on X on Friday, and one of the biggest stars in the NBA today had a raw reaction to the post. Cleveland Cavaliers star guard Donovan Mitchell, who’s been a lifelong fan of the Cowboys, expressed disappointment at the news.

Mitchell hasn’t had much to write home about regarding his beloved Cowboys lately. Before Parsons issued his trade request, the Cowboys endured a woeful 2024 season. Dallas finished with just seven wins and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 campaign.
Atrocious injury luck with one of the team’s top offensive players didn’t do the Cowboys any favors a season ago. Quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending hamstring injury in November and was limited to just eight appearances.
While things have gone anything but swimmingly for Mitchell’s Cowboys over the last year, he can get that sour taste out of his mouth by helping the Cavaliers win at a high level in the coming 2025-26 NBA campaign.
Cleveland seems primed to contend in the Eastern Conference once again, as some of the top teams in the East are going to look very different this coming season due to injuries and roster shuffling. That has left the door open for Mitchell’s squad to potentially get over the hump and make a push for the NBA Finals.
The Cavaliers still have yet to prove that they can put together a highly successful playoff run with their core led by Mitchell, however. The “core four” hasn’t helped the Cavs get past the second round of the playoffs. Cleveland got bounced in the second round this past season at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.
