An NBA trade idea where the Utah Jazz acquire Terry Rozier and Jaime Jaquez Jr. from the Miami Heat has been created.
NBA writer Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Jazz, Heat and Boston Celtics:
Boston Celtics get: Walker Kessler, $27.7 million trade exception
Utah Jazz get: Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Neemias Queta, 2026 protected first-rounder (from Celtics), 2026 second-rounder (from Celtics), 2029 protected first-round swap (from Heat), $5.5 million (from Celtics), $4.9 million trade exception
Miami Heat get: Anfernee Simons, draft rights to No. 53 John Tonje (from Jazz), $3.9 million trade exception
Rozier will make $26.6 million next season in the final year of his contract. The veteran guard remains under federal investigation on a potential gambling probe.
Meanwhile, Jaquez Jr. will make $3.9 million next season. He’s eligible to sign a rookie-scale extension next offseason.Â
The 31-year-old Rozier appeared in 64 games for the Heat last season. He averaged 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 39.1% from the field, 29.5% from beyond the arc and 85.2% from the free-throw line.
Miami drafted Jaquez Jr. with the 18th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The 24-year-old played in 66 games last season, averaging 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 46.1% from the field, 31.1% from beyond the arc and 75.4% from the free-throw line.
The Jazz went 17-65 last season. They had the worst record in the NBA. Utah’s front office traded John Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers, sent Collin Sexton to the Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkić, acquired Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson from the Heat and agreed to a buyout with Jordan Clarkson this offseason.
