CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — UNI men’s basketball coach Ben Jacobson has signed a new deal that will effectively keep him at the university for as long as he hopes to stay there.

On Monday the university announced a “five-year rolling contract” for the 5-time MVC coach of the year. This means that his contract will get renewed each season, pushing it 5 years into the future, in perpetuity.

Jacobson came to UNI in 2006, and has won more than twice as many games as any other coach in UNI history. He’s taken the Panthers to 4 NCAA tournaments, including their trip to the Sweet 16 in 2010.

Jacobson’s 374 wins trail only Hank Iba in career victories in the Missouri Valley Conference.
