Kevin Durant has once again responded controversially to a fan on X, who questioned the reason why the Golden State Warriors did not appreciate him.

The 36-year-old moved to the Golden State Warriors after spending eight years of his career with the OKC Thunder, but his free agency decision led to him receiving a lot of criticism.

The Thunder had just lost to the Warriors in the 2016 Conference Finals and fans did not like Kevin Durant joining their direct rivals just months later.

However, he went to the Bay and won two championships, while also winning the Finals MVP during the team’s dominant run.

Despite his contributions, KD is not given a lot of love by a huge section of Dubs fans and he has just given the reason behind it.

The Dubs lost the 2016 NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and right after that they made the decision to add Durant to their roster.

His ability to score and torch defenses made the Dubs even more difficult to beat as opponents already were having a tough time trying to contain Steph Curry.

In his very first year, the Warriors topped the Western Conference with a 67-15 record and went on to win the championship by steamrolling through the playoffs, losing just once to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Slim Reaper was the Finals MVP as he averaged 35.2 points against the Cavs. He picked up from where he left off in the 2017-18 season, as Durant won another Finals MVP after yet another dominant performance against LeBron James‘ Cavs.

Warriors made it to the Finals in the 2018-19 season as well, but an Achilles injury to KD meant that the Toronto Raptors would take a 4-2 win there and secure their first ever championship.

Durant left the Dubs after that and made the move to the Brooklyn Nets. He was one of the core players in their dynasty, but does not get recognition from Dubs fans.

A user on X asked him why he believed that was the case and Durant dropped an answer that read: “Them finals MVPs, they will never recover.”

This came just a few hours after he had clapped back at a fan over greatest scorer criticism remarks.

Kevin Durant’s Warriors stint was legendary

The Warriors took a whole entourage, including Curry and Draymond Green to convince Durant for the move.

He agreed and signed a two-year $54 million deal, which in today’s market can be considered a very economical contract.

From the get go, Durant did his best for the Warriors and put up big numbers. If he had an off night, the Dubs had the likes of Curry and Klay Thompson, both of whom were also brilliant for the Warriors.

He stepped up in the playoffs as well and was one of the reasons the Dubs were so dominant there.

Although there were reports that things between the Dubs and Durant ended on a rough note, his contributions to the franchise cannot be forgotten.

It was a three-year stint, but in that time he cemented his place as an all-time great in franchise history with his individual brilliance.
