With a mix of veterans and exciting young talents like No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, the 2025-26 Dallas Mavericks should be an interesting team to watch.

The Mavs will be fighting for their place in a crowded Western Conference, but individually, some of its stars will be chasing big milestones and making their way up the NBA’s all-time leaderboards.

Here are some of the notable milestones in play for the Mavericks in the upcoming season:

Anthony Davis

Dallas’ superstar big man enters 2025-26 just 22 points away from 19,000 points, with 18,978 points in his career. He’s likely to break in the first few games of the year, if not in the season opener.

More interesting is whether he will break into the 20,000 point club. If Davis stays healthy, there’s a great chance to join the other 52 players with that career total. With 1,430 points next season, a total he’s surpassed in eight seasons during his career, he’d surpass Joe Johnson to enter the top 50 in NBA history.

Beyond scoring, Davis’ prowess in the paint could net him more milestones in 2025-26. He has a chance to reach 9,000 career rebounds and 2,000 career blocks in the upcoming season.

Cooper Flagg

While Flagg won’t be figuring into any all-time leaderboards in his rookie season, he might break a few records of the “youngest in NBA history” variety.

He’ll make his debut around 2 months before his 19th birthday, meaning he’ll have around a month to beat LeBron James’ record (18 years and 334 days) for youngest 30-point game in NBA history.

Flagg will also have almost his entire rookie year to break LaMelo Ball’s record (19 years and 140 days) for youngest triple-double in league history, too.

Klay Thompson

There’s a slim chance Klay Thompson joins former Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry and the Los Angeles Clippers’ James Harden as the only members of the NBA’s 3,000 career 3-pointers made. He enters the year at 2,697 career 3-point makes, good for fifth-most in league history behind Curry, Harden, Ray Allen and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard.

While 303 three-pointers would be a new career-high for Thompson, it is only two more than the 301 he made in just 69 games during the 2022-23 season with Golden State. While 3,000 is unlikely, Thompson has a real chance to pass Lillard (2,804 career 3PT makes) for fourth place all-time as the Blazers’ guard recovers from an Achilles injury suffered in the 2025 playoffs.

Kyrie Irving

The Mavs’ star point guard is expected to miss a significant portion of the season as he recovers from an ACL injury suffered last season. However, he enters 2025-2026 at 18,433 career points.

That leaves him 567 points from 19,000 points, a total that only 65 players have reached in NBA history. At his career average of 23.7 points per game, he’d need about 24 regular season games to hit that milestone.

Others

Dereck Lively II: The Mavs’ young center has a chance to hit 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds next season. He enters needing 203 points and 352 rebounds to make it happen.

P.J. Washington: He enters the season needing 122 assists to reach 1,000 for his career.
