The Mavericks will begin their 45th anniversary season with a home matchup against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 22 at 8:30 p.m. CT, the team announced Wednesday. The opener will be broadcast on ESPN/ESPN App and marks the third consecutive year Dallas has opened the season against San Antonio, and the second straight season at American Airlines Center.
The Mavericks will start the year with a season-long five-game homestand — the longest to open a season in franchise history — featuring visits from the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder (Oct. 27) and defending Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers (Oct. 29).
Mexico City Trip, Holiday Showcase
After the homestand, Dallas will travel to Mexico City to face the Detroit Pistons on Nov. 1 at Arena CDMX, marking the franchise’s eighth game in Mexico. The Mavericks and Pistons last met there on Dec. 12, 2019, a 122–111 Dallas victory.
Dallas will also appear on Christmas Day for the sixth consecutive year, visiting the Golden State Warriors in the Bay Area on Dec. 25. The team is scheduled for 23 national TV games: eight on NBC/Peacock, five on Amazon Prime Video, five on ESPN/ESPN App, three on ABC/ESPN App, and two on Peacock-only broadcasts. Four games will air on ESPN Radio. The local broadcast schedule will be announced later.
Road Challenges and NBA Cup Play
The Mavericks will face an extended road-heavy stretch from Feb. 7 to March 16, playing 13 of 17 games away from home. That run includes a season-long six-game road trip (Feb. 7–24) surrounding All-Star weekend (Feb. 13–15), and a five-game trip (March 3–10).
The 2025 NBA Cup tips off Nov. 7 on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies. Dallas will also face the Los Angeles Clippers (Nov. 14), New Orleans Pelicans (Nov. 21), and Los Angeles Lakers (Nov. 28) in Group Play. The semifinals are set for Dec. 13, and the championship will be played Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.

All eight Western Conference playoff teams from last season will visit Dallas twice, including the Thunder (Oct. 27, March 1), Lakers (Jan. 24, April 5), and Warriors (Jan. 22, March 23).
