The Detroit Pistons announced Friday the signing of free agent Javonte Green.
Green, 32, appeared in a combined 68 games last season as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans (50 games) and Cleveland Cavaliers (18 games). The veteran wing averaged 5.1 points on 42.9% shooting from the field and 3.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game.
The 2025-26 campaign will mark Green’s seventh NBA season. He began his career in 2019 with the Boston Celtics, where he spent a year-plus, before he signed with the Chicago Bulls. He played 122 games across the next four seasons in Chicago, where he averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting on 54.9% from the floor and 36.3% on 3-pointers. In April 2024, Green scored a career-best 25 points to lead the Bulls to a 108-100 victory over the New York Knicks.
Green’s NBA journey is a testament to his resilience. After going undrafted in 2015, he spent the next four years playing overseas before finally making his NBA debut with the Celtics. Green has been able to carve out a career due to his respectable defense and high energy.
With the addition of Green, the Pistons have one roster spot remaining.
