The camp in its second year is headed by Roy Jackson Jr., who played college basketball and professionally overseas.

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – A free basketball camp at Hamady High School wrapped up this afternoon — giving local kids a chance to sharpen their skills before heading back to class.

The 2nd annual Back Two School basketball camp ran from noon to 3 p.m. and was led by Roy Jackson Jr., who played college basketball and professionally overseas.

The camp was open to boys and girls ages 9 to 13, and offered hands-on training, with about 50 to 60 kids taking part for a more personalized experience.

Campers walked away with medals, certificates, and backpacks full of school supplies — all free of charge.

“I put this event on because it’s important to give back to the youth,” said organizer Roy Jackson Jr. of Dreamz Two Reality. “I believe in giving the free camp every year to bring out boys and girls ages 9-13, to get basketball skills, and life skills in general.”

The event also provided food and essential supplies — turning a day of basketball into a well-rounded boost for students as they get ready to return to school.
