The Brooklyn Nets finally have an idea of what their 2025-26 campaign looks like.
On Thursday, Aug. 14, the NBA unveiled this coming season’s schedule and revealed the path Jordi Fernandez’s club will take toward redemption following last year’s rough 26-56 effort.
To kick the regular season off at their home Barclays Center, returning stars Cam Thomas and Nic Claxton along with big-name free agent signees Michael Porter Jr. and Terance Mann will face Donovan Mitchell’s Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, Oct. 24.
Other notable Brooklyn-based matchups to keep an eye on after that include showdowns with their crosstown rival New York Knicks (Nov. 24 and March 20, 2026), Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors (Dec. 29), former Net Cam Johnson’s Denver Nuggets (Jan. 4), LeBron and Luka’s Los Angeles Lakers (Feb. 3) and Cooper Flagg’s Dallas Mavericks (Feb. 24, which will also serve as a reunion for former Brooklyn guard Kyrie Irving).
In addition to the new-look starting lineup, fans will likely want to keep an eye on the NBA record-tying five (!) first-round draft picks that General Manager Sean Marks made this past June.
They are:
No. 8 pick Egor Demin
a flex guard/forward from BYU, averaged 11.3 PPG in Summer League
No. 19 pick Nolan Traoré
a point guard from France, averaged 7.3 PPG
No. 22 pick Drake Powell
an athletic wing from North Carolina, he did not play in Summer League due to an injury
No. 26 Ben Saraf
a combo guard from Israel, averaged 7 PPG
No. 27 Danny Wolf
a forward/center from Yale, averaged 10 PPG
Interestingly, the most promising players from this year’s Summer League run were Drew Timme — who played a handful of games with the Nets to end 2024-25 — who averaged 25.3 PPG and former Laker Quincy Olivari who netted 16.7 in his brief Vegas summer season. Tyrese Samuel and Tyson Etienne also impressed.
Also, of note: the team has a pair of preseason games against the Phoenix Suns at Macao, China’s Venetian Arena on Oct. 10 and 12. Prior to that, they’ll take on Israel’s Hapoel Jerusalem at home on Saturday, Oct. 4.
