An NBA trade idea sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat and Tyler Herro, Andrew Wiggins and Kel’el Ware to the Milwaukee Bucks has been created.
NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Heat and Bucks:
Miami Heat get: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks get: Tyler Herro, Andrew Wiggins, Kel’el Ware, 2027 first-round swap, 2029 first-round swap, 2030 first-round pick, 2031 first-round swap, 2032 first-round pick
“This would have been a much more logical trade before the Bucks stretched Damian Lillard so they could sign Myles Turner, but we haven’t exactly gotten total certainty on Antetokounmpo’s future. Ware-to-Milwaukee presupposes a Bucks reset,” Hughes wrote. “If Giannis ultimately asks to be traded, the Heat could pounce with a pick-heavy offer that also includes Ware as the keeper alongside the necessary matching salary.”
Antetokounmpo remains open-minded about leaving the Bucks, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN. Milwaukee has won just one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.
“As we sit here on August 4, sources tell me there is nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to stay in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania said. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he’s open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it a trade elsewhere.”
The Bucks will only trade Antetokounmpo if the All-Star forward requests a trade.
Both the Bucks and Heat lost in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Milwaukee lost to the Indiana Pacers in five games, while Miami lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in four games.
The Heat have been looking for a superstar ever since LeBron James left South Beach in 2014. Antetokounmpo is arguably the best player in the NBA. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks while shooting 60.1% from the field last season, making the All-NBA First Team.
Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed him to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023. There is no no-trade clause in the contract.
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. The do-it-all swingman has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks.
