Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd attended the Dallas Wings’ game against the Golden State Valkyries on Sunday. Kidd cheered and supported the Wings’ sitting courtside near the bench. He had a clear view of rookie star Paige Bueckers and the Mavericks’ top pick, Cooper Flagg. The most complete player, Flagg, has earned the faith of the Head coach.
The Wings led 38-36 then and aimed to finish strong in front of their home fans. Kidd is a significant figure in Dallas sports with a title with the Mavericks in 2011 and has been coaching the team since 2021. Under his leadership, the Mavericks reached the Western Conference finals in 2022 and the NBA finals in 2024.
Speaking about the future of Basketball in Dallas, Kidd said, “The basketball gods were great to us when you talk about two number ones with Paige and Cooper, so just understanding the future is bright…” His commitment reflects excitement about Bueckers, the Wings’ No. 1 pick, and Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg.
Kidd is not the only one showing support for the Wings. Kyrie Irving, Brandon Williams, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper also attended games this season. Irving, the key presence on Dallas’ roster, is rehabbing from his torn ACL, but he did not forget to inspire Bueckers by his presence, as the rookie considers him one of her favorite players.

Kidd made his mark in the coaching system for a long time. He retired from the NBA in 2013 and immediately transitioned into coaching. He became the Brooklyn Nets’ head coach for the 2013-14 season. After one year in Brooklyn, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks and guided a young roster during a rebuilding phase until he was fired in 2018.
Kidd then took a break before becoming an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped them win the 2020 NBA title. In 2021, he became the Mavericks’ head coach and led the team to the 2024 NBA finals.
Now entering the 2025-26 season, Kidd has a chance to prove his leadership. With Anthony Davis and Cooper Flagg on the roster, expectations are sky high. If he can lead the Mavericks to a title post-Doncic, Kidd may officially earn recognition as a top-tier NBA coach.
