LeBron James will soon play in the 23rd NBA season of his career, but that’s not a coincidence.
The NBA is home to the most talented basketball players in the world. Evidently, just making it to the league is an insanely difficult task.
But what’s even harder? Well, to be one of the top players in the league for more than two decades.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has done just that as he has broken a plethora of NBA records during his journey.

Former NBA player Markieff Morris had the chance to share the court with James for 83 games across three seasons.
During his stint with the Lakers, Morris noticed something that fans rarely notice about LBJ. He made the revelation on the ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ podcast.
“Bron. I would say the hardest worker, what it looks like to break down film, notes, statistics, and all that, Bron would do that. I’ve never seen anybody else get that deep into it like that,” Morris said.
He added: “I would say he is the hardest worker. We’re coming in the locker room, he’s been here three, four hours before us, and I work hard.”
To dominate the NBA for more than two decades is a Herculean task, but James has done that, thanks to his phenomenal work ethic.
2025-26 season could be LeBron James’ final year with the LA Lakers
For the last seven seasons, James has been the primary superstar for the Purple and Gold. But with Luka Doncic’s arrival, the Lakers have quickly moved on from their cornerstone superstar.
It’s evident from LBJ opting into his $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season, as the Lakers reportedly did not offer the King a new offer.
While GM Rob Pelinka hopes that LeBron retires as a Laker, the media has a completely different opinion on it. For instance, Charles Barkley thinks the Lakers are no longer James’ team and that he needs to move on.
Similarly, Joe Johnson thinks James should request a trade to the Golden State Warriors. Why? Because he believes that the 40-year-old has a better shot at winning another ring with Stephen Curry.
Right now, James hasn’t officially expressed his desire to leave the Lakers as he continues to focus on keeping himself in shape ahead of Year 23 in the NBA.
