Curry, who brings revolution in the league in three-point shooting, is now teaming up with renowned Chef Michael Mina to open a new bourbon bar and steakhouse at the iconic Westin St. Francis hotel in downtown San Francisco.
This collaboration comes after years of discussion between Curry and Mina. They first partnered in 2017 to open the restaurant International Smoke with Stephen Curry’s wife. However, the two new ventures, BourbonSteak and The Eighth Rule, are ready to bring a fresh wave of energy to Union Square, a neighborhood undergoing a post-pandemic revival.
Mina is reopening his famous modern steakhouse, Bourbon Steak, at the Westin. This offers a mix of steakhouse classics with a creative twist. Moreover, across the lobby, the Eighth Rule, a bourbon bar named after the seven official rules of bourbon production, will offer cocktails and premium spirits.
Stephen Curry Nears A New Journey
This move marks Curry’s first brick-and-mortar hospitality venture, though he is already involved in bourbon with his Gentleman’s Cut whiskey, launched two years ago. “I’ve always dreamt of creating my own little haven to bring people together, and now we have the perfect location,” Stephen Curry said. However, both ventures aim to make popular hangouts for locals and visitors, offering high-quality food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere.
The two new establishments are part of Michael Mina’s plan to return to San Francisco. After 2016, Bourbon Steak will return to the Westin. The new venues will feature live music, a renovated lobby, and a mix of fine dining and nightlife, which makes the place exciting.
