The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the new season with hopes of proving they’re still capable of making some noise in the Eastern Conference. Last time out, Nick Nurse’s team finished the season as the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference, having lost 58 games and won 24.

Still, it’s clear that injuries played a significant role in those struggles, which, with a stroke of luck, will mean the Sixers are capable of a big bounce-back year this time around.

Interestingly, Daryl Morey could likely convince himself to be active in the trade market, regardless of how things are going for the Sixers. If they’re enjoying a strong season, he could look to add reinforcements. If they’re struggling, maybe he seeks out another high-level contributor to try and right the ship.

It’s for these reasons that a panel of ESPN’s Insiders has ranked the Sixers fourth among teams that could make a big move ahead of the trade deadline.

Whether Morey decides to shake things up will remain to be seen; however, he has multiple tradeable assets at his disposal. Depending on how the season is shaking out, a trade may seem a viable option, either to shore up a championship push or to help add some more life into the roster.

Of course, if the injury bug reappears, then no trade will be enough to make up for the loss of a star such as Joel Embiid and Paul George. Nevertheless, as things currently stand, the Sixers look set for a bounce-back year, and in turn, a potential mid-season trade.
