The NBA is a brotherhood. A special fraternity of athletes who keep close relationships off the floor to build that competitiveness on the floor when the time comes.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is one of those top stars in the league who has built a dominant reputation when he is at his healthy best. The big fella is tough to stop when he gets in a groove and is able to throw the Sixers on his back. There aren’t many in the league who can slow him down.
Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton hopped on an episode of “Impaulsive” and discussed his close relationship with Embiid off the court after their time together with Team USA in the 2024 Olympics:
“That Olympic team has made me be cool with like everybody, that’s been the cool part about it, like not many people are cool with Joel Embiid. I happen to be pretty cool with him, he actually thinks – he actually FaceTimed me the other day and I’m like you don’t call anybody so he’s like genuinely checking in on me.
He’s a cool (expletive) dude, he’s just weary of people, he’ll keep people at an arm’s distance… we work out in LA with the same trainer, he usually kicks everybody out the gym when he works out, but he lets me stay, so I know I’m in his good graces.”
Haliburton and Embiid are a part of that NBA fraternity and will look to grow that off court relationship as they move forward in the league.
