Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been keeping busy in the 2025 NBA offseason to date, having spent a lot of time in his adopted city of Boston compared to in offseasons past. But the Georgia native also scheduled a trip back to his old junior high school in the city of Marietta to visit his alma mater, Lilburn Middle School — and hopefully inspire a new generation of athletes, activists, and influencers.
According to a recent report put out by Atlanta News First, Brown spoke to students at his former middle school on how he made the journey from where they sit today to the heights of the NBA. The school took to social media to let him know they appreciated his visit and the coverage it got, writing in both English and Spanish, “Thank you to Atlanta News First for covering yesterday’s visit to LMS by our former student, Jaylen Brown!”
“I just wanted to come back and show love,” said the main himself in an interview with the Gwinnett Daily Post’s Alan Cole. “To let the kids know that you can do whatever you set your mind to from here, from Lilburn Middle,” added the Cal alum.
His favorite part of the visit? “Just letting them know that I believe in them, and the future is bright if they believe in themselves, too,” explained Brown. “It’s just about instilling confidence. Seeing them come out there and having the belief in themselves, that’s what I like to see.”
“I wanted to come back to where the journey all started from. “A lot of familiar faces came back, some of my old teammates. It was pretty fun.”
