It’s been 25 years since the turn of the 21st century so now is the time to look back at some of the top players for the Philadelphia 76ers during that time span. It has been a tough go at times for the Sixers since 2000, but it doesn’t change the fact that there have been some talented players in the City of Brotherly Love.

Since 2000, the Sixers have seen two MVP winners, a couple of Rookie of the Year winners, and some talented role players throw on their colors. While the past 25 years have had some painful moments on the court, there have been some good ones to celebrate as well.

With that being said, Sixers Wire is going to rank the top 10 Sixers over the past 25 years:

10. Andre Miller

Sixers stats: 15.9 ppg, 6.9 apg, 4.3 rpg, 1.3 spg

Acquired from the Denver Nuggets in the Allen Iverson deal, Miller did a lot of good things for Philadelphia. He was a steady presence for a young group at the time and was a guy they could lean on during tough times. He led the Sixers to surprise playoff appearances in 2008 and 2009 during the “Run With Us” era.

9. Tobias Harris

Sixers stats: 17.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, and 3.1 apg

Fans won’t like this choice, but Harris was very good during his time in Philadelphia. He was a pro’s pro, showed up to work every day, and did everything the Sixers asked of him across his 5.5 seasons in Philadelphia without any complaints. Yes, the playoff numbers were up and down–and sometimes ugly–but Harris was such a productive member of this group and deserves a spot on this list.

8. Thaddeus Young

Sixers stats: 13.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.4 spg

Young gets the nod here mainly due to longevity. He was a productive player in seven seasons in Philadelphia as he was reliable in any role they asked of him, and he averaged a career-high 17.9 points per game in 2013-14. He’s ninth in franchise history in steals and he was a consistent presence night in and night out for them.

7. Jrue Holiday

Sixers stats: 13.4 ppg, 5.8 apg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 spg

Holiday took off after his trade to the New Orleans Pelicans, but as a Sixer, he had some impressive moments in his four seasons with the team. He was a key piece in helping Philadelphia make the playoffs in 2011 and 2012 as a young point guard and was then named an All-Star in 2013 before the trade to New Orleans.

6. Tyrese Maxey

Sixers stats: 19.5 ppg, 4.4 apg, 3.0 rpg

The winner of the Most Improved Player award in 2024, as well as being named an All-Star that same season, Maxey averaged a career-high 26.3 points in the 2024-25 season. In his five years with the Sixers, he has already made such a big impact on the floor and has taken on the leadership mantle for this group. In terms of what players have done during this century, Maxey certainly deserves a spot on this list.

5. James Harden

Sixers stats: 21.0 ppg, 10.6 apg, 6.4 rpg, 1.2 spg

Yes. Harden is ranked this high on this list. He only played 79 games across 1.5 seasons with the Sixers, but without him, there is no Maxey. He was also instrumental in Joel Embiid winning the MVP award in 2023 as he and the big fella formed an elite pick-and-roll duo on the offensive end of the floor. Despite the unfortunate ending, The Beard played an important role for the Sixers.

4. Ben Simmons

Sixers stats: 15.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 7.7 apg, 1.7 spg

Put away your pitchforks and your torches. Regardless of how one feels about Simmons and the ugly way things ended before his trade to the Brooklyn Nets, the 2016 No. 1 overall pick made a huge impact in Philadelphia on the floor. In four seasons on the floor, he won a Rookie of the Year award, three All-Star game appearances, made the All-Defensive First Team twice, and made the All-NBA Third Team in 2020. With 32 triple-doubles, he is only behind Wilt Chamberlain on that list in franchise history. He is more than worthy of this selection.

3. Andre Iguodala

Sixers stats: 15.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.7 spg

Iguodala gets a bad rep amongst Sixers fans due to his inability to step up and be “the man” the team was hoping he would become, but his impact on the franchise cannot be understated. He was named an All-Star in 2012, he’s fourth in Sixers history in steals, he’s sixth in assists, and he’s ninth in points. He was a good 2-way player.

2. Joel Embiid

Sixers stats: 27.7 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.6 bpg

Injuries aside, Embiid is a special, special talent. His career averages are stellar, having been named an All-Star seven times already and winning the MVP award in 2023. He has been named to an All-NBA Team five times and an All-NBA Defensive Team three times. He has led the league in scoring twice, and he does things that a man of his size just shouldn’t be able to do. If he remains in Philadelphia longer and secures more playoff success, he will be higher on this list. He’s already fifth in franchise history in total blocks, eighth in total rebounds, seventh in points, and he’s seventh in 3-pointers made.

1. Allen Iverson

Sixers stats: 27.6 ppg, 6.1 apg, 3.9 rpg, 2.3 spg

Was there any doubt about who would earn the top spot? Iverson was just something special. The minute he stepped onto the court in Philadelphia, he captured everybody’s attention. He won the scoring title four times, he is second in the franchise’s history in scoring, he’s third in assists, and he’s second in steals. The 6-foot guard from Georgetown also carried this franchise on his bony shoulders to the finals in 2001 while winning MVP in the same season.
