With guys returning to campus, and school set to kick off, it’s time to start turning attention to the season ahead. As we do that, we will take a look at the entire roster, with a focus on what jumps certain guys might have made after the summer in Spokane. The final freshman we have to discuss is the one that made the latest official commitment to Gonzaga in the class, but certainly one everyone believes was well worth the wait. That is, of course, Spanish guard, Mario Saint-Supery.
Gonzaga has been on the trails of Saint-Supery for a long time, and that chase proved incredibly fruitful as he developed into one of the elite overseas players in his class. Saint-Supery had his breakout at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket in 2024. He was the third leading scorer in the tournament, averaging 21.4 ppg and the second leading assist guy, averaging 6.3. APG. Both the leading scorer (Ben Saraf) and the leader in assists per game (Nolan Traore) were 1st round picks in the NBA Draft in June.
Saint-Supery carried that momentum over to a loan spell with Basquet Manresa in the top Spanish league. Playing legitimate minutes in arguably the best league in the world outside the NBA, he helped lead them to a 10th place finish in the ACB. He averaged 8.3 ppg and 2.1 assists per game during the Spanish season, which are wildly impressive stats for someone that would have been the equivalent of a high school senior in the states. His huge jump earned him a spot with the Spanish National Team in the ongoing Eurobasket competition.
