The Italian national team had four players score in double figures on Thursday, coasting to an 89-54 victory over Cyprus to conclude the group phase of EuroBasket 2025.

Simone Fontecchio scored 13 points, Matteo Spagnolo had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Momo Diouf added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the victory at Spyros Kyprianou Arena in Cyprus. Danilo Gallinari chipped in 12 points and five rebounds.

Italy faced little resistance from the home team, leading 24-6 after the first 10 minutes of action. They shot 58.3% from the field and outperformed Cyprus in nearly every statistical category, including rebounding (48-30), assists (26-11) and points in the paint (34-18).

The preliminary round of the 42nd edition of EuroBasket concluded on Thursday, with six games scheduled. The top four teams from each group clinched a berth in the round of 16, set to take place on Saturday and Sunday in Riga, Latvia.

Italy, which is advancing to the knockout round of EuroBasket for the fifth straight tournament, finished second in Group C with a 4-1 record. The team posted four consecutive wins to complete the stage after dropping its opener to Greece on Aug. 28.

The Italians on Sunday will face Luka Dončić and Slovenia, which finished third in Group D (3-2). They have advanced to the quarterfinals in three straight tournaments.
