Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd has filled out his coaching staff for the 2025-26 season with a pair of announcements.

Evan Manning has been promoted to assistant coach and former grad assistant Aaron Torres has been named director of basketball operations (DOBO). Manning’s promotion comes after Texas Tech hired UA coach Rem Bakamus earlier this summer.

Manning served the last two seasons as Arizona’s DOBO, where he assisted with all day-to-day operations within the program. Manning will assist with on-court coaching, player development and scouting reports.

Manning is the son of legendary Kansas basketball player Danny Manning, who later played for the Phoenix Suns among other teams. Danny Manning was a head coach at Tulsa and Wake Forest and now serves as an assistant at Colorado.

The younger Manning got his start in coaching working for his father at Wake Forest. Manning was a graduate assistant at Gonzaga for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Lloyd’s last season at Gonzaga was Manning’s first year in Spokane.

Manning is a former Kansas walk-on.

Torres returns to Lloyd’s staff after serving as an assistant coach last year at Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale. Torres was a graduate assistant for two seasons with Arizona after having been an undergraduate manager for two seasons.

This offseason led to the most coaching turnover on Lloyd’s staff since he arrived in Tucson in 2021. In addition to Bakamus leaving for Texas Tech, assistant Steve Robinson retired shortly after the 2024-25 season. Arizona replaced Robinson with Brandon Chappell, formerly a Texas assistant.
