It’s summertime in the NBA, so it’s time to learn some history. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the older franchises in the NBA. Their history dates to the 1949-50 season.
With that longevity, the team has had hundreds of players come through the City of Brotherly Love. Sixers Wire looks at the No. 33, which has been worn by 14 of those players in the history of the franchise. This running series will go through all of the uniform numbers worn in franchise history.

Here are the 14 players who have donned the No. 33 uniform for the Sixers:
Ken Durrett, 1975

Durrett played 27 games for Philadelphia in the 1974-75 season after he was acquired from the Kansas City-Omaha Kings. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds for the Sixers.
Jim Barnett, 1976-1977
Barnett played 16 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 4.1 points and 0.9 rebounds. It was the last of his 11 seasons in the NBA.
Reggie Johnson, 1983

Johnson, all the way to the left in this photo, was a member of the 1983 championship Sixers team. He was acquired from the Kansas City Kings at the deadline and he played 29 games for Philadelphia averaging 5.5 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Sam Williams, 1984-1985
Williams played in 116 games across two seasons for Philadelphia and he averaged 5.3 points and 3.7 rebounds as a member of the Sixers donning the No. 33 uniform.
Hersey Hawkins, 1988-1993

Hawkins was an All-Star during his five seasons in Philadelphia, and he averaged 19 points during his time with the Sixers. He was an underrated scorer during his time in the City of Brotherly Love.
Jumaine Jones, 1999-2001

Jones, to the bottom left of the above photo, played his first two seasons in Philadelphia, and he averaged 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds as a tough and rugged player. He played in all 23 playoff games on the team’s run to the NBA Finals in 2001 and he started 14 of them.

Willie Green, 2003-2010

Green played in Philadelphia for his first seven seasons, and he averaged 9.4 points and 1.9 rebounds. He also started 12 of the 17 playoff games he played for the Sixers and is the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.
Craig Brackins, 2010-2012

Brackins was a first-round pick in 2010 who played only two seasons in the NBA, both with the Sixers. He averaged 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in 17 career games.
Daniel Orton, 2013-2014

Acquired in the middle of The Process, Orton received an opportunity to play in Philadelphia. He averaged 3.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 22 games. He also made four starts.

Robert Covington, 2014-2018, 2023-2024

A true champion of The Process era, Covington morphed into one of the elite 3-and-D players in the league during his time in Philadelphia. He averaged 12.9 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 35.9% from deep during his first stint with the Sixers, and he was named to an All-Defensive first team. He returned in the James Harden trade and played in 26 games before going down with a bone bruise in his left knee and missed the rest of the season.
Tobias Harris, 2019

Before Harris changed his number to 12 for the 2019-20 season, he wore No. 33 initially after being acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 18.2 points and 7.9 rebounds while wearing the No. 33 for the Sixers. He is now back with the Detroit Pistons.

Dakota Mathias, 2021

Mathias played in eight games for Philadelphia with two starts when the Sixers were hit hard with the health and safety protocols. He averaged 6 points and 1.6 rebounds while shooting 30.8% from deep.
George Hill, 2021

Hill was acquired at the 2021 deadline and he played in 16 games for the Sixers with three starts. He averaged 6 points and 1.9 assists while shooting 39.1% from deep.
Filip Petrusev, 2023

Petrusev played exactly one game for the Sixers and recorded one rebound in three minutes of playing time. He was then sent to the Sacramento Kings in a salary dump move and then was waived.
