Domantas Sabonis grabs the rebound during the game against the Phoenix Suns on April 13, 2025.
Domantas Sabonis has done it again. The star center of the Sacramento Kings finishes the 2024-25 regular season at the top of the double-doubles leaderboard, meaning he’s achieved this feat in each of the last three seasons.
Sabonis recorded 61 double-doubles in 70 regular-season appearances in 2024-25, though it was a close battle this time compared to previous years. The Top 5 was rounded out by Nikola Jokić (59), Ivica Zubac (59), Karl-Anthony Towns (58), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (55). Sabonis achieved his final double-double of the season on the last day of the campaign, posting 20 points and 12 rebounds in a win over the Suns on Sunday.
Throughout the season, Sabonis finished with averages of 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 59% from the floor and 41.7% from 3-point range. Aside from the 61 double-doubles, Sabonis also recorded 10 triple-doubles, tied for third in the league alongside LeBron James. Only Antetokounmpo (11) and Jokić (34) had more triple-doubles than Sabonis.
This was the third season in which Sabonis led the league in double-doubles. He also did it in 2023-24, racking up 77 in 82 games, and 2022-23, when he did this in 65 of his 79 games. Sabonis has recorded 203 double-doubles in his last 231 regular-season games — a whopping 90.4% of the time. That consistency is unmatched, and it’s one of the reasons why Sabonis is considered one of the best big men in the Association.
Sabonis is expected to play a sizable role for the Kings in their quest for a playoff berth. They face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday in the Play-In Tournament. The winner of that game will face either the Golden State Warriors or the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday for a spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
