Oklahoma City ThunderThroughout the summer, it’s been extremely interesting to see a number of teams around the NBA make changes to their roster. With the Oklahoma City Thunder, though, you have to wonder why they would change anything?

While their NBA Finals series against the Indiana Pacers was a bit too close for comfort, they have a young core, and their roster looks the same.

However, it’s a fair argument to say that they shouldn’t stay complacent.

Arkay of TWSN brought up a blockbuster trade idea that has the Boston Celtics trading Jaylen Brown to the Thunder

Arkay writes, “Slotting Brown next to Shai, Jalen Williams, and Holmgren would give OKC a terrifying starting five loaded with speed, defense, and scoring punch. Brown can lock up elite wings and still create offense, making him a seamless fit…For Boston, it clears cap space and fast-tracks a retool.”

Although this seems a bit unlikely at first glance, this is a fun trade idea to look into. Today, we’ll be fully analyzing this mock trade before determining if this deal makes sense or not.

This is a PREDICTION REACTION, not a REPORT.

Boston Celtics Trading Jaylen Brown to the Oklahoma City Thunder

You can’t say a deal is ridiculous without looking at the possible package. Let’s look at the mock trade from the article right now.

“Thunder Receive: Jaylen Brown

Celtics Receive: Kenrich Williams, Aaron Wiggins, Nikola Topic, Isaiah Joe, 2026 1st Round (via Utah), 2027 Round 1 (via San Antonio)”

Although the Thunder would be ecstatic to acquire Brown at this cost, there’s no reason for the Celtics to sell him this low. While Brown may not be a top-5 player in the NBA, he’s an elite asset to have on your basketball team.

If the Celtics truly wanted to trade Brown, they would be able to get a lot more from another team. If the Thunder really wanted Brown, they would need to center their offer around a much better player.

Does Jaylen Brown Fit in Oklahoma City?

Brown would fit in Oklahoma City at this cost, but in a more reasonable trade, the answer would be no.

Again, the Thunder have such a strong roster that there’s no real reason to make such a big move.

If the Thunder want to make sure they’re not being complacent, they should go out and improve their depth. Making a blockbuster deal that would alter their whole starting lineup doesn’t make too much sense.

Oklahoma City Thunder 2025-2026 Outlook

In the slim chance that this trade went down, it would be hard to see any team beating the Thunder. As things stand right now, the Thunder have the best odds to win the NBA Finals on FanDuel at +210.

The Cleveland Cavaliers come in 2nd, all the way down at +650.

Now that we’ve had a chance to see it out, the answer to whether this trade would make sense is clear. It’s a fun idea, but there’s almost no shot that this deal would go down.

Jaylen Brown Stats

Over the past three years, Brown has made the All-Star game each time, and his stats have been impressive. Last year, Brown had 22.2 PPG, 4.5 AST, 5.8 REB, and 1.2 STL.

Brown has been productive for most of his career, and he even had a monster year in the 2021-22 season with 26.6 PPG.

Again, this is just a trade prediction about the Boston Celtics Trading Jaylen Brown to the Oklahoma City Thunder, not a report.
