KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes is entering his 11th season as the head coach of Tennessee basketball.
On Monday, WVLT got to sit down with Coach Barnes for an exclusive one-on-one interview.
I asked Rick Barnes what he wants his legacy to be when he does decide to retire from coaching one day.

During the interview, Barnes talked about why he decided to stay at Tennessee the rest of his coaching career, why his faith plays a huge role in how he coaches, his family support, and what he wants his legacy to be when he decides to retire.
Just a few weeks ago, Tennessee Athletic Director announced of The Mike Keith show that Barnes has signed a lifetime contract at Tennessee.

During the Rick Barnes era, Tennessee has made seven consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, four Sweet 16 appearances and two Elite Eight trips.
Through last season, Barnes is the ninth of the all-time Division I wins list, including first among active coaches, with 836 victories.

The Volunteers are coming off a 30-win season, ending 30-8, and back-to-back Elite Eight appearances.
Tennessee starts the 2025-26 season with an exhibition game at home against Duke on Oct. 26 before officially opening up the season Nov. 3 against Mercer.
