The Boston Celtics are bracing for a challenging year as Jayson Tatum continues his recovery from an Achilles injury suffered during the playoffs. The setback has sparked concerns about whether Jaylen Brown can carry the team deep into the season without their superstar forward.
Tatum has dedicated himself fully to rehabilitation. He is hoping for a return at some point in the 2025-26 campaign. With more downtime, the Celtics star recently took to watching NBA highlights, and one clip in particular caught his eye. While revisiting Evan Turner’s 2015-16 highlights, Tatum discovered his resemblance to Turner’s game.
“Don’t yall see the resemblance,” Tatum wrote.
Tatum’s post regarding Turner quickly went viral. Social media users quickly joined the conversation.
“Ayo chill, twin,” one fan wrote.
“I clicked on the video and thought “damn I forgot Evan Turner played a lot like Jayson Tatum” and then I saw you were the one that quoted this lmao,” another fan added.
“That’s crazy😂🤣🤣🤣🙌🏾💯 definitely looks like a slightly shorter version that’s it,” another one chimmed in.
“Nah no one is my glorious king Jayson Tatum,” one Tatum fan commented.
“Youve got no handles like that,” another comment read.
“ngl you’d be MVP if you played like this instead of relying on those soft gimmicky step backs & fadeaways no,” one user wrote.
“Maybe with the beards 😂Wish you swift recovery though,” one fan joked.
Turner played two seasons with the Boston team from 2014 to 2016. Later Turner left the team in 2016.
Jordan Walsh Weighs In On Jayson Tatum’s ProgressJayson Tatum (Image Credits: Imagn)
In a recent appearance on the Celtics Talk podcast, Celtics forward Jordan Walsh shared encouraging news about Tatum’s rehab journey.
“We’ve seen him so often. I’ve seen him from when he messed up his Achilles to now, and it’s a big difference. He’s moving around way better. So, he’s progressing well. I’m definitely happy to see him getting back healthy. To see him in the gym definitely sets a precedent for everybody else. If a guy is hurt and trying to get back, then you can do the same thing. Like, you’re perfectly healthy, you should be doing the same thing,” Walsh said.
Tatum himself recently admitted that the early stages of rehab were difficult. But he remains determined to return. Still, it’s uncertain whether he will play at all in the upcoming season. However, his commitment to recovery and the support from teammates like Walsh provide optimism for Boston fans.
