Hakeem Olajuwon had once made some comments about Victor Wembanyama, which make his recent workout with him all the more interesting.

Victor Wembanyama is the most talked-about prospect to enter the NBA since LeBron James. There was immense hype about the French unicorn when he first joined the league.

And almost instantly, Wemby showed that he was more than just hype. Even legends like Kevin Garnett were impressed with Wembanyama’s skills, as he went on to win the Rookie of the Year award.

But what really stood out about Wembanyama was his respect for the legends of the sport, trying to mold his game after the greats that came before him.

Wembanyama recently reached out to Hakeem Olajuwon to help him work on his game. While Olajuwon kindly turned Wembanyama down initially, it looks like he has recently changed his mind.

Hakeem Olajuwon turned down Victor Wembanyama’s request for a workout a few months ago, telling the French superstar that he had all the tools to succeed anyway.

“He asked about that by the way, I told him, ‘You got everything already… just have fun out there.’ He has everything, and more. I said, ‘You don’t need it’, he said, ‘Well, I’d love to learn anyway’.”

However, it appears that Wemby was successful in convincing the two-time NBA champion, as the two were recently pictured putting time together in the gym.

Perhaps Wembanyama put in a special request with Olajuwon, and convinced him to work on his post game, which some suggest is a weakness of his due to his slender frame.

Victor Wembanyama looking to break out with San Antonio Spurs next season

Victor Wembanyama has really put in the work to improve ahead of the new NBA season. While he has played well the last few years, he knows he needs to take it to another level next season.

The Spurs have put together a strong roster, with a great young core and some healthy veteran presence to help set the culture.

But their success is almost entirely dependent on how well Wembanyama plays next season, as he is their best player by a country mile.

Given that he earned All-Star and All-NBA honors last season, expect Wembanyama to take it one step further and even be in the mix for the MVP award next season.
