It was another disappointing season for the Sacramento Kings as they failed to live up to their lofty expectations entering the season.
After adding DeMar DeRozan to their roster in the offseason to pair alongside De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, the Kings were expected to be a playoff team in the Western Conference.

Instead, they got off to a slow start that resulted in them firing head coach Mike Brown and replacing him with Doug Christie.
Sacramento then traded Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline in a three-team deal that landed them Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls.

The Kings ended up finishing the season ninth in the West standings but were unable to make it past the first round of the Play-In tournament after losing to the Dallas Mavericks.
With their season coming to a disappointing ending, the Kings already elected to make Christie their new head coach and they have also hired a new general manager.

Because of this, their focus now shifts to their roster which could include them trading away some of their stars and starting a complete rebuild.

While the Kings have some major roster decisions to make this summer, their offseason begins on Monday with the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery as they try to win the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes.
Sacramento currently holds the 13th-best odds (0.8%) to land the top pick in the draft. While there is a low chance that the Kings land the top pick on Monday night, their position could still move up depending on how lucky they are.
Either way, the Kings will still have a chance to draft a key player for their future with how loaded the 2025 class is but if the ping pong balls fall in their favor, they could walk away with a potential star on Monday night.
