Ali Farokhmanesh’s first recruiting class as head coach of the Colorado State men’s basketball team is quickly coming together.
Farokhmanesh has been a longtime centerpiece to recruiting for the Rams, so it’s not really new to him. But since he moved up to the top seat in spring, this class will become his first high school signings as head coach.
The Rams landed two highly rated players within a span of a few days.
Here’s a look at who committed and the class so far:
Guard Gregory ‘Pops’ Dunson
Gregory “Pops” Dunson is a 6-foot guard out of Alexander High School in Douglasville, Georgia.
His 247Sports composite score of 0.9249 makes him the highest-rated recruit CSU has landed in the rankings era (2000 on). The previous was Kimani Jackson (0.9000) in the 2015 class.
The three-star Dunson averaged 18 points, 4.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and a steal per game as a junior last season. Those numbers launched all the way up to 31.3 points per game and six assists per game in the Georgia state tournament.
He announced his commitment on X on Sept. 7.
Dunson chose CSU over reported offers from Auburn, Texas State, Tulane, Saint Louis, Tulsa, San Francisco, Duquesne and others.
Big man Jaden Ghoreishi
The second commit comes from Jaden Ghoreishi, who is from Spokane, Washington, and attends Mt. Spokane High School.
The 6-foot-9, 215-pound versatile wing/big man has a wingspan of more than 6-10 and is rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.
“The relations with all the coaches has been there since the first day they started recruiting me,” Ghoreishi told 247Sports. “I feel wanted, I fit in the offense very well and I love what they have done with the guys in my position and where they helped them get.”
Ghoreishi can fill up a stat sheet. He had a 24-point, 18-rebound game in the playoffs last season. He’s known as a good rebounder and finisher at the rim who can run the floor.
Ghoreishi also had an official visit at Washington State before taking one at CSU, and he committed shortly after to the Rams. He also had offers from Saint Mary’s, Weber State Marshall, James Madison and others.
Colorado State’s 2026 class
Dunson and Ghoreishi now join Regis Jesuit (Colorado) wing Eric Fiedler as the three players in CSU’s 2026 recruiting class.
These players are just entering their senior year of high school. They can sign with the Rams in November but won’t join the program until the summer of 2026.
All three are rated as three-star recruits by 247Sports and in the top-20 all-time of 247Sports’ ranking of CSU recruits.
