In this new series, Sixers Wire looks at the 16 players, per Sportrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 13 under standard contracts and the three players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2025-26 season. Of course, there is a certain restricted free agent that will be included as well.

The new season begins on Oct. 22, and training camp is right around the corner. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball.

Up next in this series is big man Jabari Walker who the Sixers got on a two-way deal after he spent three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. The big man continued to take steps forward in his development in Portland as he shot 38.9% from deep in the 2024-25 season with the Blazers.

For Walker, his three goals are as follows:

Give it a little bit of everything

Versatility is the name of the game in today’s NBA. The Sixers will be looking for Walker to give production on both ends of the floor meaning being somebody who can be effective in the pick-and-roll, be able to knock down an open 3, make plays for others, rebound, and be effective on the defensive end. While he is on a two-way deal, if he does begin the season in the G League, he will have to show off these skills in order to take that next step and earn himself a standard deal.

Continue developing that 3-point shot

Walker shot a good percentage in 2024-25, but he only took 1.2 shots per game from beyond the arc. When that number was up to 1.9 in the 2023-24 season, he shot only 29.5% from deep which shows that he still has a lot of work to do in that department. As mentioned above, Walker has to do a little bit of everything in order to eventually earn his spot back up in the league so a consistent 3-point shot will go a long way in helping that.

Learn from the veterans

If Andre Drummond makes it to camp–his name is circulated in trade rumors–then he is a great veteran to learn from. He has been one to take the youngsters under his wing and show them the ropes. He has done it for so many others so Walker will be the next one for him to teach. As the Sixers move forward, they’re focusing on getting younger, they will need them to develop quickly, and this current environment helps in that department.
