After an extremely promising Labor Day weekend official visit with the Iowa women’s basketball program, 2026 five-star wing McKenna Woliczko is carefully pondering her options along with her family.
The 6-foot-2 wing from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Bruno, California, is the No. 6 player nationally in rankings by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports.
According to the Des Moines Register’s Chad Leistikow, Woliczko is undecided as she mulls her options among Iowa, South Carolina, Ohio State and USC. Her family has created a list of pros and cons for each school in an effort to make the decision a bit easier. The family told Leistikow “THERE ARE NO CONS” to the finalists.
Woliczko’s camp also informed Leistikow that no commitment decision is expected this week, but it remains forthcoming.
Leistikow also reported Woliczko intends to stay at one school for her entire collegiate experience, which is adding to the challenge of making a decision. Woliczko doesn’t want to “break up” with any of her final choices.
While the welcoming and friendly nature of Hawkeyes fans certainly did not go unnoticed by the entire Woliczko family, it is not surprising the three other programs remain equal as potential choices for the star prospect.
For Iowa, a pledge from Woliczko could be a key piece toward priming the Hawkeyes’ program toward another Final Four or championship run. It would also serve as another monumental recruiting win as Jan Jensen transforms the program from an impressive regional powerhouse to a national juggernaut.
