By now, it is obvious, but there was a time when it was not so clear what sort of future point guard Derrick White would have with the Boston Celtics — or how he felt about the team he was traded to out of the San Antonio Spurs. But since the early days of his tenure with Boston, we have come to know just how much the University of Colorado – Boulder alum loves his home with the Celtics.

And the man himself spent a fair amount of time talking about it on an episode of his “White Noise” podcast with cohost Welsh. Talking about his extensions that he has signed so far in his career, the topic of Boston love rose to the top in the conversation on his most recent period of eligibility to add years to his contract. “The third extension was much, much more relaxed,” he explained. “Not down to the wire. I didn’t want to play anywhere else.”

“I wanted to be in Boston,” White added. “I’ve always said that. It was pretty simple, pretty straightforward. And so, signing that, I was super excited just to stay in Boston, to continue to be a Celtic, hopefully do great things in Boston.”

“This is what I want, and so this is what my family wants,” said the Colorado native. “Boston has been good. My kids were born in Boston.”

“I developed as a player in Boston and that’s really what it was about, it’s like what’s going to make me happy? And I knew that was going to be in Boston. I love it in Boston.”
