Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Milwaukee Bucks season ahead in 2024-25
Giannis Antetokounmpo ruminates on his preparation for 2024-25 and why it will be different from last year, speaking at Bucks media day on Sept. 30.
Through devastating heartbreaks and top-of-the-world triumphs — the pillars of a seasoned professional basketball career — Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife, Mariah, has stood 10 toes down in support of the two-time NBA MVP.
So, when the Milwaukee Bucks superstar achieved what he called “probably the greatest accomplishment” so far in his life, Mariah took to social media to shout “my man, my man, my man!” from the proverbial rooftops.
Giannis carried his home country of Greece to a third-place, bronze-medal finish in the FIBA EuroBasket 24-team summer tournament. In Greece’s 92-89 victory over Finland Sept. 14, Giannis scored 30 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and had six assists in 31 minutes.
In the tourney, Giannis shot an astounding 68.5% from the field, averaging more than 27 points a game.
“Let me brag for one second…my man, my man, my man! 🥰” Mariah captioned an Instagram post featuring four photos from EuroBasket, including Giannis and Mariah sharing a celebratory smooch; Giannis on the court with Mariah cheering him on from the stands; and a posed pic of the family of six.
“Everything earned, nothing given! You deserve all of this greatness and more!” Mariah said.
During the tournament, Giannis and Mariah celebrated their first wedding anniversary — the two married in Greece toward the end of last summer — the first day of school for their kids and daughter Eva Brooke’s second birthday from a distance, Mariah shared in the post.
“but every single sacrifice is worth it to see you accomplish your dreams,” she wrote. “I promise to be by your side through it all my love. Keep going I’m right here with you, we aren’t done yet! 💛”
Giannis and Mariah met in Las Vegas when a then-21-year-old Giannis — now 30 — was there watching his older brother, Thanasis, play for the New York Knicks. Mariah was in Vegas working in the NBA Summer League. Giannis gave YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed and his viewers that glimpse into how he became acquainted with his longtime partner during an hours-long “irl” livestream from Greece earlier this summer.
