Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is one of the best players the game has ever seen at the big man spot. He took home an MVP award in 2023 and has set numerous records during his time with the Sixers despite having to battle through a number of injuries and change around him.
For his career, Embiid is averaging 27.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists along with 1.6 blocks. There isn’t much he can’t do at this stage of his career. Yes, injuries are playing a major part in his story, but the big fella is still one of the best to ever do it when considering everything he has been able to accomplish.

Also, he was putting games away in the third quarter in the 2023-24 season before a major knee injury abruptly paused his season.
HoopsHype has put together a list of the top 79 international players in basketball history and Embiid comes in ranked No. 9:
When healthy, Joel Embiid is dominant in every facet on both ends of the floor, with a post game that’s hard to stop, perimeter shooting touch that keeps defenses honest and unreal defensive playmaking abilities thanks to his fantastic size, athleticism and instincts. Sadly, the ‘when healthy’ part does a lot of work in that sentence since the Cameroonian-turned-American center has missed a lot of time due to injuries during his career and may have already played his best basketball based on what we saw during the 2024-25 season.
In terms of his availability for the upcoming 2025-26 season, the Sixers hope Embiid is going to be able to be anywhere near his normal, dominant self. If he is, then Philadelphia is able to push on with its title hopes. If he isn’t? Then the Sixers are looking at another miserable season. Especially, if Paul George can’t pick up the slack.
