Who is the leader of the Boston Celtics? Many fans of the team might quickly say star forward Jayson Tatum, and some might say his costar on the wing Jaylen Brown. Others might point to players no longer on the roster in past campaigns, but in the present, it is safe to say most fans would give that status to one of the Jays.
But when you talk to them about the team’s leadership, the answer is not so straightforward, with Brown at least looking at the duty as a shared one both he and Tatum manage in their own distinct way. Speaking on an episode of the “Big Tigger Morning Show” from his hometown Atlanta “V-103 Atlanta” radio station, the Cal alum spoke a bit about leadership on the Celtics. “We had leadership amongst a bunch of different guys in different ways,” he explained.

“I would say I was more of a vocal leader for our team,” added the Georgia native. “And (Tatum) more led by example. He just came out every night, you know what I mean?”

“So I mean, leadership looks different, and people gravitate to different types of leadership,” continued Brown. “So for us, we had a great team—a championship team. We had a bunch of veteran guys.”
“We all led each other to some degree. But setting the tone every single night, hearing somebody’s voice, hearing somebody speaking life into you, letting them know that they are with you—all this type of stuff is what people relied on me for.”
