Recently, Russell Westbrook has become a point of discussion among the Boston Celtics fan base. It follows a recent article from FOX Sports that cited Westbrook as a logical addition to Joe Mazzulla’s roster. However, that idea has been met with resistance from Celtics fans, many of whom believe the veteran guard would take minutes away from some of the team’s developmental talent.
Westbrook is currently an unrestricted free agent, following an impressive year with the Denver Nuggets. He finished the season in the top seven of Sixth Man of the Year voting, making it the second consecutive season he’s been in that conversation.
During a recent episode of the “Celtics Chronicle” podcast, hosts Adam Taylor and Wayne Brown discussed the logic of adding Westbrook to the Celtics roster and how it could impact the overall team. The duo also touched on the difficulties Boston would have in ensuring Payton Pritchard and Anfernee Simons received the playing time they needed if Westbrook were also on the roster. Finally, Taylor and Brown debated whether Westbrook would be the right fit for a Mazzulla-coached team.
