The Nets announced earlier today that they have waived G/F Dre Davis.

Brooklyn signed Davis yesterday to a partially-guaranteed contract from which he will earn $85,300. The Nets did a similar deal with David Muoka so it looks like Brooklyn is getting creative with the cap.

The Brooklyn Nets will be opening training camp next week as they get ready to begin a preseason slate that will see them play in China for two games. Brooklyn will have some tough decisions to make ahead of camp starting, but it seems like the Nets are getting creative with ways to get compliant with the salary cap prior to the regular season beginning.

The Nets announced on Friday that they have waived guard/forward D’Andre Davis one day after signing him to a partially-guaranteed contract, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Scotto noted in his report on Thursday that as part of Davis signing his deal, he will be making $85,300, allowing Brooklyn to get closer to the salary floor without adding any unnecessary roster spots.

Davis, 24, went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft after a college career that saw him play for Louisville and Seton Hall before playing his fifth and final season at Ole Miss. Davis was able to make Brooklyn’s Las Vegas Summer League team and while he did not play as much as the rookies and some of the younger players, Davis had some solid moments on the floor.

Davis played four games for the Nets in the summer league and he averaged 4.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 28.6% from the field and 20.0% from three-point land. Davis didn’t seem to be a factor for Brooklyn in training camp as Scotto noted that the former Ole Miss Rebel could follow the same path as center David Muoka, who was signed and waived by the team over the course of 24 hours from his signing.

After being waived by the Nets, Davis will most likely join the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League afiliate, similar to what is expected for Muoka after being signed and waived in a similar fashion. With Davis off the roster, Brooklyn now has 20 players on the roster, not including players like Grant Nelson, Ricky Council IV, and Fanbo Zeng that were reportedly signed to compete for roster spots in training camp.
