Minor detained after assault at NBA YoungBoy concert

  • September 23, 2025

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City, Missouri, Police said they detained a minor at an NBA YoungBoy concert Sunday night after a brutal beating.

KCPD said they got a call around 9:30 p.m. for a disturbance at the T-Mobile Center downtown.

They determined an assault had occurred and detained a juvenile. Officers said two victims, including a T-Mobile Center employee, were taken to a hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries.

The assault was captured by many of those who attended the concert and was subsequently posted to social media from different perspectives.

Police told KCTV5 they detained the juvenile, but it’s unclear if he’s facing charges at this time.

A representative from the T-Mobile center called the incident horrific.

Stating that it does not represent what normally occurs in their arena.

In a statement to KCTV5, Shani Ross, VP Sales and Marketing for the T-Mobile Center, said, “We are aware of an incident at last night’s NBA YoungBoy concert in which multiple T-Mobile Center team members were assaulted by a fan. The incident was captured on video and has been provided to local law enforcement. Our immediate concern is the well-being of our staff who sustained serious injuries. After receiving prompt attention from on-site First Aid personnel, they were later treated at a local hospital.”

She added, “The safety of our employees and guests remains our top priority. Safety protocols are reviewed for every event, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement regarding this matter. This isolated incident does not reflect our venue, our city, or the thousands of guests of all ages who enjoyed the show without incident. Violence of any kind is unacceptable at T-Mobile Center, and we remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.”

KCPD said the T-Mobile Center hires off-duty KCPD officers for additional security during any major event, regardless of the artist or performer. The number of officers requested might change based on the anticipated number of attendees.

This is an ongoing investigation, and it is unclear if the minor is facing charges.
