The Sacramento Kings are bringing Terence Davis back for training camp two weeks after waiving the veteran guard.
The Kings announced on Tuesday they have re-signed Davis, who has played 122 games for Sacramento over parts of four seasons since 2021.
Terms of the deal were undisclosed, but Spotrac’s Keith Smith reported that the Kings signed Davis to a non-guaranteed training camp contract. Smith added that Davis likely received an Exhibit 10 deal that could pave the way for him to play for the G League Stockton Kings if he isn’t part of the NBA roster at the start of the season.
Davis, 28, will be part of a crowded backcourt when training camp begins Tuesday at the team’s Golden 1 Center practice facility. The Kings have a surplus at the guard spots with Dennis Schroder, Zach LaVine, Malik Monk, Keon Ellis, Devin Carter, Nique Clifford and Davis in addition to two-way players Isaiah Stevens and Daeqwon Plowden.
Davis went into the summer with a non-guaranteed contract for the 2025-26 season. The Kings waived him on Sept. 10.
The Kings first acquired Davis in a trade with the Toronto Raptors in March 2021. He has averaged 8.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 16.1 minutes per game for Sacramento while shooting 42.7% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range.
Davis played a key role as a reserve during his first two seasons in Sacramento. He averaged 11.1 points in 21.5 minutes per game in 2020-21. He averaged 10.4 points in 17.9 minutes per game in 2021-22.
Davis was also part of the original Beam Team in 2022-23. That group won 48 games to secure the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, ending the longest playoff drought in NBA history after 16 consecutive losing seasons. Davis appeared in 64 games, averaging 6.7 points per game.
