San Antonio Spurs have a huge decision to make after the NBA Draft Lottery results.
For the third straight season, the San Antonio Spurs have been rewarded with a top-five pick in the NBA Draft.
The Spurs have already drafted Victor Wembanyama in 2023 and Stephon Castle in 2024, but they have a shot at adding another young player to their core with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Considering Cooper Flagg is the consensus No. 1 overall pick, the Spurs are likely to select Dylan Harper at the second spot.

Being the son of 5x NBA champion Ron Harper, Dylan has had great mentorship throughout his amateur basketball career.
While playing in the NBA is a difficult task, Harper is coming off a terrific freshman year with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
He played 29 games with the program and averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game in his sole season.
NBA expert Tim Bontemps is also sold on Harper’s talents as he recently heaped huge praise on the 6’6 guard.
“Dylan Harper, I think he’s got a chance to be a monster player, 6″6 guard and handles the ball, a pretty intriguing fit with Victor [Wembanyama] long term,” Bontemps said.
However, Harper’s arrival could spell trouble for De’Aaron Fox, who has played just 17 games for the team after getting traded to the Spurs in the middle of the season.
Spurs should trade Fox, says Bontemps
With Victor Wembanyama improving at a phenomenal rate, he needs elite guards around him to improve the spacing on the floor.
The Spurs traded Fox to help Wemby, but with the prospect of drafting Harper around the corner, Bontemps feels the franchise should part ways with the 2023 NBA All-Star after just 17 games.
“I would consider trading De’Aaron Fox personally, if I was the Spurs, and I would roll forward with the super young core you’ve got, and have Dylan Harper be the long-term point guard with Victor Wembanyama, at least think about it,” Bontemps stated.
At this point, it’s too soon to make any quick decisions. After all, Fox has proven himself as an elite scorer while Harper will be a rookie.
While trading Fox could help the team in the long term, it comes at the risk of another year being wasted if the team experiments too much.
