Draymond Green has paid tribute to one of the Golden State Warriors stars the team will need in the upcoming match-ups.

The Golden State Warriors won on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves to steal a march on their playoff opponents.

But unfortunately for the Warriors, their win came at a cost with Stephen Curry sustaining a hamstring injury, that leaves fans fearing the series is over.

Curry did not play in the second half, although his team were still able to squeeze out a 99-88 victory.

Head coach Steve Kerr has already labelled Pat Spencer as the Golden State Warriors’ replacement for Stephen Curry while he is sidelined.

Spencer played 11 minutes and scored four points, also grabbing two rebounds.

He has the trust of his teammate Draymond Green, who said after the game that Spencer has a few things working against him.

Green explained, via Anthony Slater: “Pat (Spencer) is a damn good basketball player.

“I know it don’t look like it…The No. 61 don’t help…But Pat is one of the toughest players on this team.”

Pat Spencer played another sport

Pat Spencer was an elite lacrosse player before switching to pursue his basketball dream, beginning his career in Germany.

After landing a spot in the G League with Washington Wizards’ development squad, he latched onto the Santa Cruz Warriors in 2022.

Spencer made his NBA debut in 2023-24, playing six games, and has gone onto play 39 games this season.

And now he is playing in the NBA Playoffs for the first time, with an unlikely spotlight on him after Curry’s injury.

Now in his third year in the Warriors’ system, he has earned the trust of the organization, and Draymond Green’s comments show a level of respect too.
