ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale is demanding the NFL change a controversial rule after Sunday Night Football.
The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday evening. It was Micah Parsons’ return to Dallas. Both teams played really well on offense – and really poorly on defense – with the game ending in a 40-40 tie. The Cowboys and the Packers were tied, 37-37, at the end of regulation. Both teams then managed to make field goals in overtime.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who threw for more than 300 yards and had four total touchdowns, was unsatisfied with the result.
“You don’t play the game for ties,” Prescott said postgame, per ESPN. “I don’t care about the stats, the ups and downs, the ebbs and flows. I just care about the end result and the win. When you don’t get that right now, it’s tough for me. In 10 years, it’s the first tie I’ve been a part of. It’s hard to wrap my head around it because I know I’d feel a lot worse if it was a loss. But I’m not satisfied. Not that I would be if we’d won. But it’s a weird feeling.”

Following the game, fans across sports claimed that the NFL needs to get rid of ties. “It’s unAmerican,” many say.

The popular ESPN college basketball analyst sounded off on the finish to the Cowboys vs. Packers game on Monday.
Dick Vitale demands rule change
“I really so disappointed after watching for about 4 hours the @packers vs @dallascowboys & it ends in a 40-40 tie The @NFL rules committee must come up with rule that ultimately determines a WINNER. Both teams played with great passion & intensity & the QB’s were fantastic,” Vitale said.

“The Rules committee in @NFL must find a way to determine a DEFINITE WINNER ! Ties r pathetic / after the p intense ot if no winner like last night y not to save players from injuries have the kickers decide game with FG contest!”
The NFL has been tweaking its overtime rules for years now. Does the league need to get rid of ties?
